No matter what industry you are currently working in or looking to enter, language and the ability to communicate effectively are critical skills. As our world has become more complex and globally connected, the need to think strategically and problem solve has also increased. But arriving at solutions and being able to implement them, no matter if it’s within your community or a global business, requires the ability to clearly communicate in written format for multiple stakeholders to understand. In this two course professional writing MicroBachelors program from Arizona State University (ASU), you will develop the skills necessary to express ideas effectively and propose actionable solutions to problems that are understandable and relevant in a variety of professional occasions. Through project-based work, this online introductory-level writing program goes beyond typical college English creative writing courses to make it relevant for adults in the workforce. Starting by developing and expressing ideas effectively with different audiences in mind, you’ll work your way up to design, develop, research, and execute a writing project from inception to completion. By the end of the program, you’ll have developed writing skills that will allow you to clearly communicate business ideas and take on new challenges as you continue to progress your career.
An excellent online course offered by edX: how it works
edX courses consist of weekly learning sequences. Each learning sequence is composed of short videos interspersed with interactive learning exercises, where students can immediately practise the concepts from the videos. The courses often include tutorial videos that are similar to small on-campus discussion groups, an online textbook, and an online discussion forum where students can post and review questions and comments to each other and teaching assistants. Where applicable, online laboratories are incorporated into the course.
edX offers certificates of successful completion and some courses are credit-eligible. Whether or not a college or university offers credit for an online course is within the sole discretion of the school. edX offers a variety of ways to take courses, including verified courses where students have the option to audit the course (no cost) or to work toward an edX Verified Certificate (fees vary by course). edX also offers XSeries Certificates for completion of a bundled set of two to seven verified courses in a single subject (cost varies depending on the courses).
